FEATHERSTON
SOLDIERS’ DANCE ENJOYABLE GATHERING (“Times-Age” Special.) The soldiers’ dance held in the Anzac Hall on Saturday night was well attended, though only a few soldiers were present owing to general weekend leave having been given at the Tauherenikau Training Camp. Udy’s Orchestra supplied the music and Mr G. Hyland was the M.C. The supper was arranged by the ladies of the Pa-hautea-Kahutara zone. Personal Items. Misses M. Sadler and M. Clapshaw, of Wellington, were weekend -visitors to Featherston. The death occurred in Wellington on Saturday of Mr Edwin Jones at the age of 96 years. Mr Jones frequently visited his daughter, Mrs A. P. A. Clapshaw, of Featherston, and leaves many friends here. The late Mr Jones took a very active interest in church work and was at the time of his death a member of the Northland Anglican Church vestry. Mr John Varham, a well known Featherston resident, died on Saturday at the age of 81 years. The death occurred on Saturday of Mr Thomas Bicknell, at the age of 73 years. Mr Bicknell was well known throughout the district.
