FEILDING SALE NEW LEVELS FOR BREEDING EWES. SUPPLY NOT EQUAL TO DEMAND. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) FEILDING, July 26. Breeding ewe values reached new levels at the sale conducted in Feilding today, when first-quality lines of twotooths made to 41s 3d. The sale was again keen in all sections, with the supply not equal to the demand. Fat sheep: The recent drop in the price of hides and skins was not reflected in mutton prices today, when last week’s rates were held and in some cases passed. Extra prime wethers made 35s to 36s lOd, prime 31s 4d tc 345, average sorts of 29s 6d to 31s, plain to unfinished 23s to 28s 9d; extra prime ewes 28s Id to 30s lOd, good secondgrade sorts 25s lOd to 26s lOd, average quality lines 23s 6d to 255, lighter 17s 4d to 22s lOd; prime heavy hoggets 28s lOd to 29s Id, prime medium 24s to 25s 3d, others 20s to 23s 8d; fat lambs 22s 7d.
Store sheep: An exceptionally strong demand still persisted for good-quality breeding ewes and both young and aged lambs were also still keenly sought. No trouble was experienced in obtaining high values for good sorts. Extra good two-tooth ewes made 40s to 41s 3d, backward sorts 31s 6d, good four-tooth sorts to 35s 6d; very good five-year ewes, 28s to 30s, second-qual-ity lines 25s 6d to 27s Id; good five and six-year ewes, 28s 3d to 28s sd; extra good four and five-year ewes, 30s sd; fattening ewes, 12S 3d to 19s lOd, culls 6s to 8s; best ewe hoggets 32s 7d, se-cond-grade lines 25s to 28s, small 22s 6d; very good wether hoggets 225. others to 19s; forward wethers, 25s Bd. Store cattle: A few head of run stock were included in the light entry in this section. The market was quite strong. Good three-year A.A. steers made £9 Is; Herefords. £8 18s; two year A.A. steers, best £7 ss, others £6 2s 6d to £6 11s; forward Jersey steers. £5 5s to £6 7s 6d; yearling A.A. heifers, £3 ss, A.A. cows, r.w. A.A. bulls, £2 Ils; yearling Jersey heifers, good £4 tc £4 12s 6d. others £3 12s 6d; boner cows, heavy £4 to £4 7s 7d, others £2 10s to £3 15s. Fat cattle: All classes of beef showed advances in price. The yarding, contained a good proportion of ox beef, which made up to 40s a 1001 b. Extra prime oxen made £l3 7s 6d, medium prime, £9 12s 6d to £lO 17s 6d, light £7 7s 6d to £9 ss; prime heavy cows £lO 2s 6d to £lO 17 7d, second grade £8 5s to £9 2s 6d, lighter £5 12s 6d to £7 17s 6d; light heifers £7 2s 6d to £7 17s 7d; unfinished £5 7s 6d, vealers £3 2s 6d to £3 ss; runners, £5 10s. Dairy cattle: A good yarding of ear-ly-calving cows and heifers sold strongly at improved prices. Very good spring heifers made £l5 2s 6d. good £lO 17s 6d to £ll 10s, others £5 15s to £9; heifers in milk, £6; best springing cows, £lO to £l2, second quality £8 to £9 10s, later calvers £5 5s to £7 15s.
Pigs: High values again ruled for pigs, with a total clearance being effected. Good weaners made 20s, slips 255, porkers £2 4s to £3 12s.
