MOTOR CAR ACCIDENT VEHICLE CATCHES FIRE. (“Times-Age" Special.) A small sedan car, driven by Mr Clive Parsons, who was accompanied by Mr R. Brown, both of Auckland, came to grief at the corner on top ot the hill approaching the Newman bridge late on Tuesday night. The vehicle on rounding the bend apparently skidded in some loose metal and collided with the fence. The car finally overturned and caught on fire. Both the occupants managed to escape without being seriously injured.
Excellent weather conditions have been experienced in the Eketahuna district during recent weeks. Frosts, fogs and heavy dews have been numerous and these have been followed by warm sunny days. Stock of all descriptions are in excellent condition, and it is anticipated that the approaching dairying season will begin under favourable circumstances. GOLF CLUB COMPETITION RESULTS. The weather during the weekend was ideal for golf and most members took advantage of the good playing conditions. Anderson won from Duffil by default; Bouzaid beat Tuckett; H. Walton beat Richardson; Henderson beat Murray; Rigden beat Christie; Quin' livan beat West; V. Anderson beat Simmers; Hornblow won from Rowden by default; R. Dickson beat Niederer; Bradley beat Brown; Shale won from Greathead by default; Marenzi won from Higginson by default. The draw for the second round of the White Cup is: O. Walton v. Page; D. Fraser v. M. Fraser; B. Anderson v. Bouzaid; H. Walton v. Henderson; Rigden v. Quinlivan; V. Anderson v. Hornblow; R. Dickson v. Bradley; Shale v. Marenzi. MIXED CANADIAN FOURSOME. A mixed Canadian foursome played on Sunday afternoon resulted in a win for Miss H. Simmers and Mr M. FraSOUTHEY CUP. In the first round of the Southey Cup competition, the best card handed in was that of Mrs Simpson, 3 down. MEN’S SATURDAY COMPETITION. A Stableford bogey competition will be played in conjunction with the second round of the White Cup competition on Saturday. Personal. Mr and Mrs W. Simpson, Senr., Alfredton Road, left yesterday on a visit to Tauranga.
