FEATHERSTON
ENJOYABLE GATHERING EUCHRE PARTY & DANCE. (“Times-Age” Special.) A euchre party and dance was held in the Pihautea Hall when a most enjoyable time was spent by those present. The card winners were: —Ladies: Miss M. Juno, 1; Miss M. Bargh, 2. Men: Mr P. Cade. 1; Mr C. Corlett, 2. The Monte Carlo waltz was won by Mr A. Feast and partner. Personal Items. Miss Phyllis Nikolaison is visiting her parents, Mr and Mrs Nikolaison, Pihautea. Miss Helen McKay, Wellington, is visiting Mr and Mrs McKay, of Pihautea. Sapper J. W. Bargh, of the Trentham Military Camp, was home on weekend leave. Mrs Thwaites and Mr and Mrs Newman, Wellington, were the guests of Mr and Mrs Juno. Word has been received in Featherston that Mr H. H. Pharazyn, a member of one of Featherston's oldest families, and a brother of Mrs Chas. Elgar, escaped from the Channel Islands with his son and daughter-in-law just prior to the enemy occupation. They lost everything but what they stood up in. Mrs Phil. Bennet, who has been the guest of Mrs Chas. Elgar, Fernside, returned home yesterday.
