WOMEN’S INSTITUTE DYER VILLE GATHERING. (“Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the Dyerville branch of the Women’s Institute was held yesterday. Progress reports were received from the Box Study Group and the Knitting Circle. Miss Olive Madsen gave a most interesting and instructive talk on "Gardening and Rose Culture,” and Mrs A. Jamieson demonstrated various hand-crafts-painting on glass, paper work, etc. Letters were received from soldiers on active service thanking the Institute for the parcels of knitted comforts. The roll call: “Things we used to wear,” brought forth some amusing reminiscences, and the monthly competition was won by Mrs Campbell Smith. The best bloom in the garden resulted in a win for Mrs Charles Smith. OBITUARY MR G. HUDSON. The death occurred on Wednesday of a well known personage in the town, Mr George Hudson, at the age I of 71 years. Deceased was a resident of the town in his early years, afterwards entering the railway service, retiring to live in Wellington for some time, and finally taking up his residence in Martinborough. The internment took place in Wellington today. MRS S. McFERN. At the early age of 33 years, Mrs Stanley McFern died yesterday at the Tari Hospital after a long illness. The deceased was the eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs Edward Bright, of Martinborough. and practically lived all her life in the town. She was an ardent worker for St. Andrew’s Church and a member of the Ladies’ Guild, and an enthusiastic member of the Women’s Institute. Her early death will be mourned by a wide circle of friends.
