RED CROSS SOCIETY CASES OF GOODS FORWARDED. ("Times-Age” Special.) Two cases containing 51 hot water bag covers, 25 scarves. 14 pairs of socks. 34 balaclavas. 3 body belts. 1 pair of arm sleeves. 13 pairs of bed socks. 1 pair of gloves. 2 pairs of mittens. 3 Air Force helmets.. 2 pairs of theatre stockings. 11 sponge bags and 3 flannels, have been dispatched to Red Cross Headquarters, Wellington, from the Featherston sub-centre. BOROUGH COUNCIL BUSINESS AT LAST NIGHT'S MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Featherston Borough Council was held in Featherston last night. There were present the Mayor. Mr J. W. Card, and Councillors M. B. Tait, R. F. Watson, J. S. Viles, B. B. Donald, C. R. Skippage, J. G. Hardie, C. C. Kenward and H. W. Cundy. An apology for absence was received from Mr W. Johnson. Accounts for £360 3s 7d were passed. The Town Clerk, Mr H. Rolls, reported that the district fund was in credit at £9ll 13s Bd, the cemetery account, credit, £3O 13s 7d, the main account 17s 9d, the Mayor’s relief fund £BO 14s 9d. The water supply loans 1937 and 1936 stood at £l5 15s 2d and £2,611 2s 6d respectively. The library account was in credit at £4B 0s 2d. Receipts since last meeting totalled £695 7s 2d. Mr F. C. Benton was the successful tenderer for the alterations to the Anzac Hall roof.

Heavy traffic fees allocated by the Masterton County Council, amounting to £55 14s 7d, were received. The contract of Mr G. B. Oldfield (Hastings) for the laying of the water pipes in connection with the water supply loan (1936) was accepted. Councillor Tait was authorised to sec Mr Pope respecting the sale of five pinus insignus trees at the end of the Domain. Mr Card. Dr Sharp and Mrs E. Shepherd were appointed a committee to consider the proposals for the allocation of the evacuated children from Britain. Personal Items. Mr and Mrs S. Grant have returned home from a holiday spent in Christchurch. Mrs G. Sadler. Pukio, is a visitor to Wellington. Mr Frank Wood, Pahautea, is on a motor tour of the north. — —
