At the conclusion of the farmers’ meeting held last Friday night, Garrity Bros, of Greytown, approached (ne school authorities with a very gen erous offer to place at the service of the school an area of approximately 2i acres so that the senior boys may also have the opportunity of assisting in the more production campaign. The area, which is situated within the borough and which is a fine piece of land, has been already ploughed, and the donors have since offered to plough it again when conditions suit. Such a gesture is to be very warmly commended, and further such offers could no. doubt be availed of. There are two local residents at least who possess the necessary tractors and cultivators who would be only too pleased to avail themselves of the opportunity to contribute to the war effort if land of reasonable quality were forthcoming. Those who have suitably-sized areas within a reasonable distance of the town, or for that matter farmers in outlying districts who are willing to hand over portions of land for productive purposes, should communicate any such offers to Mr W. G. K. Wiggins, chairman of the local committee.
