NO AGREEMENT
ON DEFENCE OF IRELAND CONCLUSION OF BRITISH WAR CABINET. PREPARATION IN ADVANCE . RULED OUT. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, July 11. The “Daily Telegraph” says the War Cabinet has reached the conclusion that there is no longer hope of an agreement with Eire on the defence of Ireland as a whole. Mr De Valera has constantly refused to depart from the policy of strict neutrality, thus ruling out any advance scheme to meet a possible German attack. Cabinet therefore has drawn up its own defence plans, enabling naval, military and air assistance to be rushed to Eire in the event of an attack.
