PETROL RATIONING

DRASTIC ECONOMY PROPOSED IN AUSTRALIA. (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) MELBOURNE, July 11. Just under 39 miles a week will be the maximum mileage allowed private cars without special claims under the petrol rationing scheme announced by Sir Frederick Stewart, the Supply Minister. In the case of private vehicles the annual mileage ranges from 2000 miles upward. Commercial vehicles are allowed from 2500 to 15,000 miles a year. It is expected that the rationing will operate on September 1.
