WORK FOR PATRIOTIC PURPOSES. GARMENTS FOR MINESWEEPERS. There was a large attendance at a meeting of the Ladies’ Auxiliary of the Navy League when the president (Mrs A. Caselberg) was in the chair. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames W. G. Lamb. S. Fletcher, W. R. Birch and T. Jordan.

It was decided to rearrange the system for the distributing of wool, and Miss C. Cameron was appointed head of a sub-committee for that purpose, the other members being Mesdames W. H. Robieson, O. A. Bunny, D. Buchanan, S. R. Gawith and A. H. Daniell. It was decided that two members of the wool committee should be in attendance at the wool depot at the Midland Hotel each Friday afternoon, with one member of the general committee to assist. It was decided to endeavour to send a parcel of tinned foods to overseas minesweepers once a month and the following were elected a sub-committee in connection therewith: Mesdames P. Borthwick and E. C. White (convenors), J. V. Gordon, Colin Deans, E. G. Norman and Miss McLaren. This subcommittee is to be responsible for all arrangements in connection with collecting and forwarding of these goods. A circular is to be printed and sent to all members suggesting ways of assisting the Navy League war effort. The committee was asked to bring available reading matter to the nextmeeting to be forwarded to the Seamen’s Mission in Wellington. , Another 285 warm garments were packed and sent to Wellington to be forwarded to minesweepers overseas, making a total of 1127 garments since the beginning of this year. This consignment includes 178 balaclavas. 25 scarves, 13 pullovers, 61 pairs of gloves and mittens and 8 pairs of gloves. The thanks of the committee are due to the following members and friends for
