FEATHERSTON
SICK & WOUNDED FUND EXCELLENT RESULT FROM EFFORT. (“Times-Age” Special.) The Sick. Wounded and Distress Appeal has been closed and the Featherston Committee report that all local funds are now in hand. The sum oi over £1,400 has been collected in the Featherston district. The thanks of the committee are extended to those committees in the rural areas for their continual effort which produced large sums. The collections from the various zones are as follow: —South Featherston, Tauherenikau, Kaiwaiwai, £5lB 10s 9d; Featherston, £420 16s 7d: Pahautea-Kahutara, £205 Ils 2d; Western Lake, £2OO 6s 2d; Cross Creek. £6O 13s 7d. Y.M.C.A. Marquee. The Masterton Y.M.C.A. has erected a very fine marquee with boarded floor, tables,. and library for the use of men at the Tauherenikau Military Training School. The Masterton Y.M.C.A. is also conducting the canteen. Patriotic Guild. Two boxes of clothing from Tauherenikau sub-branch, which meets at Mrs Q. Donald’s house weekly, were yesterday forwarded to the Lady Galway Patriotic Guild headquarters. Hospital Training. Five members of the Featherston sub-centre of the Red Cross Society have now completed their 60 hour hospital training in connection with their V.A.D. course. Euchre Party and Dance. The euchre party and dance held in Pahautea Hall on Saturday was fairly well attended. The card prizewinners were: —Ladies: Mrs Hubbard. 1; Mrs Juno, 2. Men: Mr Bentley, 1; Mr Cade, 2. Featherston Football Club. All members are requested to attend a meeting of the Featherston Football Club in the pavilion on Wednesday, commencing at 8 p.m.
