OBITUARY
MRS MARY M. The many friends of Mrs Mary Mortimore Hawke, wife of Mr Charles Hawke, of 113 Bannister Street, Masterton, will regret to hear of her death, which occurred yesterday. The late Mrs Hawke, who had spent the whole of her life in the Wairarapa, was born at Greytown 73 years ago, the third daughter of the late Mr and Mrs S. E. Jackson, early settlers of Greytown. For a period she resided in Martinborough and had lived in Masterton since 1920. In her younger days she was a member of the choir of St Luke’s Church, Greytown, and took a keen interest in church affairs. The late Mrs Hawke is survived fey her husband, three daughters, Mesdames J. H. Minton (Masterton), O. C. Henry (Hastings) and R. Malton (Tauranga) and by one son, Mr Walter O. Hawke (Masterton). Three sons and three daughters predeceased her. Mesdames G. S. Phillips (Kaitoke) and H. W. Duff (Greytown) are sisters. There are ten grandchildren. The funeral will take place on Monday, leaving the late residence, following a service commencing at 2 p.m., for the Masterton Cemetery.
