BRILLIANT ARTISTS

CENTENNIAL CELEBRITY CONCERT. MASTERTON NEXT SATURDAY. Some brilliant artists of high standing in the musical world are to appear at the Masterton Opera House on Saturday, July 13, when a Centennial Celebrity Concert will be the attraction. The vocalists will consist of Miss Isobel Baillie (soprano), Miss Gladys Ripley (contralto), Mr Heddle Nash (tenor), and Mr Oscar Natzke (bass). The accompanist and solo pianist will be Mr Clifford Huntsman, an English performer. In addition the Centennial String Quartet, comprising . Messrs Vincent Aspey.(first violin), Harry Ellwood (second violin), William McLean (viola), and Frank Bate (’cello) will play a selection of musical items. More than usual interest will attach to the appearance of Mr Oscar Natzke, a New Zealander who has taken a leading part in opera at Covent Garden and is, incidentally, the youngest bass ever to sing in that great Opera House. He has a voice of great power. The leading authorities in England have spoken in the highest terms of Mr Natzke’s performances, and have expressed the greatest faith in his future. The box plan will open at the Arts and Crafts on Wednesday next.
