FEATHERSTON

PLUNKET SOCIETY MONTHLY MEETING OF BRANCH. (“Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the Featherston branch of the Plunket Society was held yesterday, Mrs Q. Donald presiding over a fair attendance. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames R. W. Matthews, J. G. McKenzie, G. Yule, R. N. Barton, G. S. Sharp. J. Willett, J. R. Matthews. Roy Donald. J. G. Donald, E. M. Wakely and A. R. Robbins. The credit balance at the Bank and Post Office Savings Bank was reported at £723 3s 4d. Accounts amounting to £3 Ils lid were passed for payment. The nurse reported as follows for the past month: Number of cases on books since work began, 883; babies under supervision, 70; pre-school children, 34; new cases. 2; analysis of feeding, both naturally fed; visits to homes, old cases 50, new cases 15; visits to rooms, adults 76. babies 76, children 1; country districts visited. South Featherston, Featherston, Western Lake, Cross Creek Road, Pukio, Pihau.tea, Kahutara, Dyerville, Otaraia, Lower Valley, Pirinoa and Tawaha. Persona! Items. Mr I. Feast, who underwent an operation in the Greytown Hospital recently, is making good progress towards recovery. Mrs Wilson, Bideford, is visiting her sister, Mrs Tullock. Miss B. Rowles left today on a visit to Wellington. Mr Jack Houston, eldest son of Mr and Mrs W. Houston, is visiting Featherston prior to joining the Air Force at Blenheim. The funeral of the late Mr Henry Philip Dittmer took place at the Featherston Cemetery yesterday afternoon and was largely attended. The services at the house and graveside were conducted by the Rev R. S. Keenan. The late Mr Dittmer had been farming in Kahutara for the last five years, but had been in indifferent health for- the past eighteen months. He leaves a widow and there young children. The pallbearers at the funeral were Messrs R. Dittmer (Raetahi). E. Dittmer (Hunterville), D. Wilson, M. Wilson, J. Thompson and S. Benton.
