A communique states: A German submarine sank 24,000 tons of enemy merchant shipping. Another U-boat torpedoed the Arandora Star. German planes on July 2 sank a 12,000-ton ship and another of 6,000 tons and also seriously damaged an 8,000-lon vessel. “Our planes raided British armament centres along the East Coast, particularly Newcastle. A raid last night on English South Coast ports, resulted in several fires and explosions. We shot down two British planes over Holland. “British planes again bombed Holland and Northern and Western Germany last night, doing little damage. There were a number of casualties. One German plane is missing.” Authorised sources declare that the German occupation of France has been completed according to schedule and to the armistice terms.
