YOUNG FARMERS
MASTERTON CLUB MEETING. CALL FOR MORE PRODUCTION. The monthly meeting of the Masterton Young Farmers’ Club was held last ni S ht - Mr G.-Blatchford presided in tne absence of JPRF3pW\Mr J. S. Mackay. A letter was received the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union, re girls who were anxious to join in with the Young Farmers' Club movement. It was thought that it this could be brought about, friends and sisters could come along to meetings of their own, held in a different hall. Two trustees were appointed to represent the club in connection with the loan of £lO to the Government, interest free, for the duration of the war. It was decided that the club’s annual dance be held later in the year. The dance on Thursday night in aid of patriotic funds would be held in the Masonic Hall. Invitation holders were reminded of this fixture. Arrangements were well in hand and those who attended were assured of an enjoyable time. An address. New Zealand's War Effort and the need for increasing production, was given by Mr W. F. McLaren. who said that Britain needed 20,000 more tons of cheese this year. I1 L all cows in New Zealand were milked a fortnight later a year that would be sufficient to produce this amount of cheese. Mr McLaren gave some inter*: esting points regarding the activities of: the Production Council. A hearty vote of thanks was carried by acclamation. Mr Neilson, of the Herd Testing Association, is to give a lecture on July 26 on "Improving Dairy Herds, and Genetics." This lecture should be most instructive and all members should make an effort to be present.
