RADIO TALKS
GOVERNMENT PROGRAMME. INFORMATION ON POLICY QUESTIONS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON. This Day. The intention of the Government to undertake an active proramme for the purpose of informing the people fully and speedily as to the war needs of the nation, was referred to by the Prime Minister, Mr Fraser, in an interview yesterday. A major step forward had been made in the co-ordina-tion of the two radio services to obtain the widest possible coverage for important broadcasts, he said. The Director of Publicity, assisted by a radio co-ordination committee, had been instructed to organise and coordinate the broadcast of all information and policy matter connected with the Dominion's wat effort. Mr Fraser said that during this week several five-minute talks were to be given in explanation of points in the Budget. Next week national talks would be devoted to the question of farm production. This series would be inaugurated by the Minister of Agriculture, Mr Lee Martin, and by Mr Polson, M.P. for Stratford. Other speakers would include representatives of the farmers, Members of Parliament, and well-known experts whose task it was to advise and assist the farmers in meeting the requests of Great Britain for increased production and for new lines of agricultural and pastoral activity. It was intended under this co-or-dinated plan that each week should be devoted to information of value to the national cause. This use of the radio would be an amplification of the Press facilities and other avenues now used by the Government in giving the public all possible information as to the needs of the Dominion’s war effort.
