GREYTOWN
SCHOOL COMMITTEE MONTHLY MEETING. ("Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the Greytown District High School Committee was held last evening, there being present: Messrs H. G. Carter (chairman), F. Dennes (treasurer), E. Gayfer, W. Grigg. H. C. Trotman, G. Robinson, W. Wiggins and Mrs Knell (secretary). The headmaster, Mr S. C. Shedden, was also in attendance. The school visitors reported that minor repairs were required at the school. They also reported on an interview with the Board members who visited the school. The committee decided to contribute £2O towards the re-laying of the paths around the school. Accounts passed for payment amounted to £8 Ils 3d. The headmaster reported that the roll numbers were: 299 primary and 48 secondary. Despite the cold weather the attendance had been exceptionally good, being 92 per cent for primary, and 95 per cent secondary. The following Agricultural Club diplomas have been issued: —9 calf rearing, 5 lamb, and 4 root crops. Melva Jordan obtained the best results for carrot growing, the rate being 301 tons per acre. Miss Askew is still on sick leave and is not expected to resume her duties for some weeks. The school visitors for July will be Messrs W. Wiggins and H. Trotman. In reply to a question from one of the committee the headmaster stated that the saluting of the Union Jack was being carried out at the school. Personal. Mr A. Nisbet is at present confined to his bed.
