FEATHERSTON

MINIATURE RIFLES WEEKLY COMPETITION. (“Times-Age” Special.) The following were the scores in the Featherston Miniature Rifle Club s weekly competition: R. Buck 91, S. Buck 94, P. Burt 90, Miss Chalmers 92. Mrs M. Wilson 94, R. Binder 93. E. McKenzie 97, K. McKenzie 95, A. Viles 92, W. Johnson 98, J. Buck 93, A. Hodder 99. FIRE BRIGADE MEETING SERVICE HONOURS PRESENTED. At the monthly meeting DeputySuperintendent W. Boston presented Supt. T. Tidswell with a 2-year gold bar on the completion of his 33 years' service with the brigade. The Deputy Superintendent spoke in glowing terms of the service rendered by the superintendent, and the interest he had taken in the welfare of the borough for so many years. Supt. Tidswell presented Foreman P. Habib with a two years’ silver bar on the completion of 13 years’ service. Supt. Tidswell said that Foreman Habib, who is also secretary of the brigade, was a great asset to the brigade. He had also represented the brigade at different New Zealand demonstrations and had acquitted himself well. Hon life members. C. R. Skipage and J. W. Holland, also congratulated both recipients and spoke of ■ the good work they had done for the brigade. Both recipients suitably replied. Guild Gathering. The Pahautea-'Kahutara Guild met at the Pahautea Hall yesterday afternoon, when there was a good attendance. The Rev J. S. Holland gave an interesting talk on the “Oberammergau Passion Play.” Mesdames Campbell Pearce, Peter Pearce and Chas. Matthews were the hostesses. Personal Items. Mr and Mrs Corlet are visiting Wellington. Mrs J. C. Bidwill will leave today on a visit to Napier. Table Tennis. A tournament played at Pahautea on Saturday resulted: Ladies, Miss Titbit 1, Miss J. Simonek 2. Men: Mr B. Dick 1, Mr J. Saba 2.
