Before an open air investiture ceremony in tne quadrangle of Buckingham Palace the King received Mrs Warburton Lee in the palace, and handed over the Victoria Cross awarded her late husband. His Majesty later decorated members of the services, for gallantry in Norway and France, including Paymaster Lieutenant Standing of H.M.S. Hardy, who, limping on crutches, received the decoration of the D.S.O.
