RUGBY FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP RESULTS. (“Times-Age” Special.) Saturday’s matches resulted as follows: —Pongaroa 9, United 3. Tiraumea 14. Coast 14. At the Pongaroa Domain the Po-ngaroa-United match was a fairly even one. Peters at full-back was the mainstay of the winning side, while C. Churchhouse was a tower of strength for United. Tiraumea and Coast met at the Coast, this game proving to be one of the best of the season. The score at half time was 9-8 in Tiraumea's favour. For Coast lan Hay was the outstanding player 11 points coming from his boot, while his handling was faultless. G. McKenzie, I. Johnstone and W. Hartjill were also outstanding players. For Tiraumea Geof Laing was as usual the key man of the team. with. S. Smith, B. Spring. F. Herbert, and V. O'Brien playing above their usual form.

Tiraumea have so far been unbeaten in the competition. The following players have been chosen by the sole selector (Mr P. H. Donovan) to represent Pongaroa in a match with the Masterton Old Boys at Masterton on Saturday:—lan Hay,S. Smith. T. O’Brien. G. McKenzie, W. Hartjill, L. Berry: forwards, B. Churchouse, B. Smith, I. Johnstone. G. Thomson. G. Laing (capt). J. Meech, G. Speedy and V. O'Brien. Emergencies: Backs, Peters and C. Churchouse: forwards. G. Wright, and D. Power.
