HAWKE’S BAY CHALLENGE. INTERESTING CONTEST AT AKURA ON SATURDAY. On Saturday the Wairarapa Coursing Club will control one of the most interesting events of the season. The Hawke's Bay Coursing Club has challenged the Wairarapa Club in a Maiden Stake for a handsome hand-painted banner donated by the Wairarapa Club. Eight Hawke’s Bay dogs will be drawn against eight local dogs and the winner of the stake will win the Challenge Banner for its club. A large contingent of enthusiasts arc coming to Masterton to witness the contest. A supporting event will be the Archer Cup. Nominations are being taken from allcomers, but only a local dog may win the cup. Should a visiting dog be successful, the club will donate a trophy and the nearest Wairarapa dog in the stake will receive the cup. The Wairarapa team will be picked from the following dogs: Democrat. Great Gold. Jeanne. Our Peter, Orui Giri. Flying Nell. Wakeful. Our Biddy, Red Hunter. Flying Veil. Bit-o-Silver, and Flying Flo. Owners of dogs not available arc requested to notify the secretary or any member of the committee. A social and dance will be held in tlie Odd Fellows’ Hall on Saturday evening to entertain the visitors.
