OCCUPIED BY ENEMY. COMMUNCIATION CUT OFF. The Ministry of Information states, according to Daventry, that since the announcement that the Channel Ishad been demilitarised, enemy landings have been made in Jersey and Guernsey. Telegraph and telephone communications have been cut, and no further information is available. GERMAN REPORT (Received This Day, 9.30 a.m.) LONDON. July 1. Simultaneously with the British announcement. that communication between England and the Channel Islands had been suspended, the German Official News Agency claimed that the Germans had occupied the Island of Jersey and partly occupied Guernsey. The partial occupation of Guernsey on Sunday is described as “a surprise air force attack, in which two British bombers were shot down. The occupation of Jersey today was carried out in an “equally surprising manner.”
