ALFREDTON
SOLDIER HONOURED PRESENTATION FROM SETTLERS. (“Times-Age” Special.) In spite of the extremely cold weather there was a good attendance at the Tiraumea Hall last evening to do honour to Sapper Jack Trask. Dancing was enjoyed to music supplied by Mrs Geof. Houlbrooke and Mr A. Rowden (saxaphone), and to extra dances played by Mesdames Hood and Spring and Mr R. Harman Senr. (accordeon). The lounge was made attractive for non-dancers with a cheery fire and card tables. During an interval Mr Purvis Hay took the opportunity of congratulating Sapper Trask whose engagement to Miss Dorothy Hart was announced during the evening, and of assuring him of the good wishes of the gathering. Mr Hay then presented him with a pair of razors. Sapper Trask feelingly responded. Dancing was resumed until an early hour, when the singing of Auld Lang Syne brought a happy gathering to a close. Personal Items. Mrs T. Wright is leaving today to take up her residence in Masterton. Mr N. Hislop has left for Wellington to say farewell to his brother, Mr T. Hislop.
