COUNTRY DISTRICTS SUB-CENTRE MEETING OF COMMITTEE. The bi-monthly meeting of the Country Districts Sub-Centre of the Red Cross Society was held in the Country Women’s Club Rooms on Wednesday. The president, Mrs A. C. Gawith, presided over a representative attendance of committee members, including Mrs Wright and Mrs Wingate, representing the Kopuaranga and Opaki Women's Institutes respectively, and Mr K. Donovan, the Masterton Young Farmers’ Club. The delegates to the' Paddy’s Market committee meeting handed in their report. Suggestions were accepted to be forwarded to the committee meetin. With reference to the recently inaugurated Lady Galway Guild, it was decided to leave this matter in abeyance for the present, and that the branch continue to carry on with its refugee work in the meantime. Power was also given to the executive members to purchase materials required fo rhospital supplies. At the sewing bee a number of new members were welcomed, and a very busy afternoon was spent. The branch wishes to thank the following for donations, etc., Miss Brown for loan of sewing machine for duration of war; Tinui Women's Division, Farmers' Union, proceeds from dance; Mrs W. Marchbank, donation; Mr F. Evans, donation. Parcels, Tinui Emergency Committee, Te Wharau Women's! Division, Masterton Women's Division, Gladstone Women's Institute and school children, Kopuaranga Women's Institute, Opaki Women's Institute, Sketch Club and Davis's Store Store. Also to Messrs Kerslake, J. Donovan and Wildish for assistance given.
