EKETAHUNA

BOBBY CALF POOL COMMITTEE ELECTED. (“Times-Age” Special.) There was an excellent attendance of farmers, representing all districts, at the meeting in the Odd Fellows' Hall yesterday, to elect a committee to control the activities of the recentlyformed Bobby Calf Pool. Mr P. Davies presided and explained the purpose of the meeting. He said that, according to the regulations, it had been necessary to obtain 75 per cent of the producers in the area. They had obtained that percentage and now it was necessary to elect a committee and chairman. He asked Mr Kirkpatrick, manager of Fletchers' Tomoana Works, to address the meeting. Mr Kirkpatrick said that the forming of a pool was an excellent idea in war time when the saving of petrol was necessary, and with the calling ol tenders for the disposal of calves, the farmers would receive the benefit of such competition. The speaker gave details of how such pools operated in the Waikato and the procedure for disposing of the calves. Mr Kirkpatrick stated that the best pigs handled al Tomoana came from the Eketahuna district and there was nothing in the North Island to equal them. He hoped the district farmers would repeat the performance next year and he asked them to send two pigs instead of one to the works.

On the motion of the chairman. Mr Kirkpatrick was accorded a hearty vote of thanks.

The meeting discussed at considerable length the system the committee should be elected on. An amendment to the effect that a committee and a chairman representing the various areas be elected was narrowly defeated and a motion to elect a committee of factory representatives were carried. Cooper was appointed secretary. BUSH RUGBY UNION MEETING OF COMMITTEE. At a meeting of the Bush Rugby Union Management Committee the application of D.
