FEATHERSTON

SITTING OF S.M. COURT LICENSING CASES. (“Times-Age” Special.) At a sitting of the S.M. Court at Featherston, before Mr H. P. Lawry, S.M., E. A. Sim, licensee of the Royal Hotel, was fined £3 with costs 10s for having unlawfully sold liquor to certain persons. E. Marshall was fined £2 with costs 10s for having supplied to persons nol entitled to be so supplied. For having been unlawfully on the licensed premises of the Royal Hotel R. A. Buick was fined £2, Cyril Hutchley 10s. O. Reid 10s. C. J. Viles 10s and J. S. Viles 10s. A similar charge against N. Frew was dismissed. In a civil case J. B. Burt v W. E. Keating, judgment was given for plaintiff by default for £5 5s sd, with Cour! costs £1 12s. On a charge of drunkenness Robert Hogg was convicted and discharged. Ladies' Guild Service. St. John’s Church was full yesterday afternoon for the annual service of the Ladies' Guild. Members of the Kahutara-Pahautea, and Western Lake Guilds were also present. The Right Rev. St. Barbe Holland, Bishop of Wellington, delivered a most impressive address. After the service members of the St. John’s Guild provided afternoon tea in the Parish Hall. There was a large attendance at the Parish Hall in the evening when the Bishop delivered an address to men.
