WAR EFFORT

MANY PROJECTS UNDER WAY IN CANADA. OTTAWA.. Construction work in connection with the war effort of the Dominion was well under way in every province at the end of April. Progress is being made on 169 separate projects, the work generally being well ahead of schedule, according to an announcement made by the Department of Munitions and Supply. In several instances it has been necessary to revise the original plans in order to keep pace with the progress which has been made.. The programme includes air force and national defence projects, buildings for military purposes and developments in connection with the manufacture and supply of munitions. Much of this work is of a secret character.

To date approximately 13,000,000 dollars worth of construction contracts have been let. This figure covers only buildings and other structures. It does not include the provision of runways and other air field facilities. Some of the contracts are close to completion, buildings on twenty-four air fields being already well advanced.
