WEST SCHOOL
MEETING OF COMMITTEE. ERECTION OF NEW SCHOOL. In the absence of the chairman (Mr F. Shearer), Mr E. R. Rogers presided at the last monthly meeting of the Masterton West School Committee. There were also present Messrs Gilbert, Graham, Baird. Tooby. Haybittie and the headmaster, Mr Farrell. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs Shearer and Batty. The Wellington Education Board advised that plans were being prepared and tenders would shortly be called for the new school building.
Mr J. D. O'Connor was nominated as representative on the Wellington Education Board. It was decided to again write to the board regarding the delay in connection with the new school.
Accounts amounting to £l7 5s 2d were passed.
The headmaster's report slated that the roll number was 349. Influenza was prevalent. Skipping ropes were to be purchased for physical'training. The children had contributed £l3 to the Red Cross Appeal. The inspector’s report was excellent. The children saluted the flag once every week.
A sum of £3 was voted from the committee for the Red Cross Appeal. The secretary was instructed to thank the Trust Lands Trust for its grant.
