MARTINBOROUGH

CENTENNIAL BATHS WORK NEARING COMPLETION. ("Times-Age" Special.) The swimming baths built as a Centennial Memorial are now nearing completion. The baths are 100 feet x 30 feet long with a depth of 2ft 6in to 10ft. Two springboards are provided, the high one being of Olympic design. The buildings are of concrete, with a pleasing green colouring, while the baths are of a deep green. The dressing rooms and showers are roomy. The baths will be a fitting and useful Centennial Memorial.

GOLF MATCH

PIRINOA SUCCESSFUL. A match between the Pirinoa and Martinborough teams at Pirinoa resulted in a win for Pirinoa by 4 games to 1. The results were as follow (Martinborough players being mentioned first in each case): Harvey and Petre lost to McMaster and Hume; Perry and Charles lost to Stuart and McLeod: Baker and Moore lost to Herangi and Tikao; Wall and Rankine beat Sutherland and Waiwera; G. McLeod and Arthur lost to Thomas and Carter. The best cards handed in on Saturday by the lady members of the Martinborough Golf Club were:—Mrs Charles 105, 32, 73; Mrs Caseley 108, 32, 76. Hockey Match. A match was played at Puruatanga Park on Saturday between the Featherston team and an eleven from the recently-formed Martinborough Club. An even and interesting game resulted in a win for Featherston by 4 goals to 1. The visitors, being more experienced. were able to push home their chances to better advantage. Football. Red Star and Martinborough fourths tried conclusions on the Martinborough ground on Saturday, when the home team had a runaway win of 52 points tc 3. The visitors played one short throughout the game.
