NEW ZEALAND ST LEGER MASTERTON DOG SUCCESSFUL. The New Zealand’ St Leger, the classic event run at the Hawke’s Bay Coursing Club’s meeting at Hastings on Saturday, was won by Messrs Archer Bros, of Masterton, with “Bit o’ Blue” (Golden King-Slippery). There were 8 entries. The most outstanding course of the event was in the semifinal when Bit-o’-Bluc beat Master Paroil. the Derby winner at the recent Masterton meeting, in an exciting contest. The meeting is being held in fine weather, and several local dogs arc competing in the Centennial Cup events tomorrow. The coursing is of a very high standard.
