CARD PARTY AND DANCE GATHERING AT PAHAUTEA. (“Times-Age” Special.) There was a good attendance at the euchre party and dance held in the Pahautea Hall on Saturday night. The winners in the card tournament were: —Ladies: Mrs Riki, 1; Mrs Juno, 2. Men: Mr Corlet. 1; Mr J. Burt, 2. Aggregate points prize:— Ladies: Mrs Juno, 1; Mrs Riki, 2. Men: Mr Bentley, 1; Mr V. Wood, 2. The Monte Carlo dance was won by Mr B. Frew and Miss Cade. Personal Items. The funeral of the late Mr Arthur Kendrick Muir took place at the Featherston cemetery yesterday afternoon and was largely attended. The service at the graveside was conducted by the Rev. R. S. Keenan. The late Mr Muir had been for a number of years employed as head ploughman by Mr R. W. Matthews, at Wairorongomai. Mr Muir is survived by a widow and by a family consisting of Messrs Henry, Ronald (Waiorongamai), Harold Muir (Masterton), Mrs G. Grey (Parkvale), and Mrs G. Cole (Kahutara). Miss J. Gillingham, of Fairlie, South Island, is the guest of Miss Brenda Bloxam. Mrs Nikolaisen is visiting Norsewood. Mr and Mrs Newman and Mrs Thwaites, of Wellington, were weekend guests of Mrs J. Juno, Pahautea. Red Cross Society. Matron Higginson, of the Greytown Hospital, will deliver a lecture to the members of Pahautea-Kahutara subcentre of the Red Cross Society at Mrs A. C. Pearce's residence on Wednesday evening.
An examination for Red Cross candidates will be held on Wednesday night at 7.30 o'clock at the District High School.
