TABLE TENNIS
WINTER SPORTS CLUB TOURNAMENT. COMMENT ON THE PLAY. A combined doubles table tennis tournament was held at the Winter Sports Club when, the winners were Messrs J. McGrath and M. G. Wing (7) who defeated Mr J. Nicholls and Mrs M. Winslade. The two men players although not up to the standard of their opponents, played an excellent game, and with their small handicap were able to win comfortably. The final game finished up 21/17. J. Nicholls played exceptionally well, but his shots were on numerous occasions outdriven by either J. McGrath or M. Wing. At the conclusion of the competition the president (Mr J. Haywood) presented the trophies to the winners who were warmly -applauded. The latter part of the evening was spent in playing ladder games. P. Greenlees was beaten by J. Haywood in two straight games for the lop position on Ihe ladder. Haywood's return to form is most encouraging. The club hope to have several finalists in this year's championship events and many of the A grade players are showing splendid form.
Mrs Winslade. after a long absence up north, has returned and is playing splendidly.
