ST. JOHN AMBULANCE
CADET DIVISION DANCE. ENJOYABLE GATHERING. The dance held in the Masonic Hall on Saturday night by the Cadet Division of the St John Ambulance Brigade was an outstanding success, ancs although dancing space was limited owing to the large numbers present, dancers seemed to thoroughly enjoy themselves.
Sergeant Pat Ward, who was on special leave from the Trentham Camp, was a capable M.C., and the music which was supplied by Jack Barnes and his Rhythm Boys was all that could be desired. Monte Carlo waltzes were won by Miss H. Sutherland and Mr W. Hollings and Miss Benge and partner. A vocal item was supplied by Mr Fulton, and much appreciated extras were played by Mr and Mrs. Minifie. A ladies’ committee was responsible for the supper. Mr C. S. McQuade. Cadet Superintendent, when thanking patrons for their attendance. stated that, those dances were usually conducted for the Divisional funds, but at a recent meeting of the Division it was decided to hand the proceeds of this dance ’over to the joint appeal of St John Brigade and Red Cross Society for the Sick and Wounded Fund. He particularly thanked Sergeant Pat Ward for returning from camp to carry -out the duties of M.C., stating that his action was much appreciated by the members of the Division. In conclusion he stated that another dance was to be held in the Masonic Hall on Saturday. July 6.
