WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
KAITUNA-FERNRIDGE. MONTHLY MEETING'QF MEMBERS., (“Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the KaitunaFernridge Women’s Institute was held at Mrs Shaw’s residence, Upper Plain, yesterday. Mrs J. Welch presided over a good attendance of members. It was decided to hold further card parties to raise money for patriotic purposes. The next meeting will be at Mrs Scharnweber’s residence, Akura. Mrs G. Dagg gave a very interesting demonstration on articles made from old'felt hats. She showed many novel and beautiful pieces of handwork, and was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. The competitions were won as follows: —Gems. Mrs Laing 1, Mrs lorns 2; flowers, Mrs Scharn weber 1. Four other members tied for second place. The next competition will be gingerbread, made without eggs. Mrs Keir was appointed secretary.
The president thanked Mrs Shaw for the use of her home for the meeting. A happy gathering was brought to a close with the singing of the National Anthem.
