The Misses Morrison. Lansdowne, are visiting Nelson. Mrs Madden and Miss Burling, Roberts Road, Lansdowne, are visiting Wellington.

Mrs J. Wilder, Hawke’s Bay, has been spending a few days' with Miss McLaren, Renall Street, Masterton.

Miss E. Daniell, Albert Street, Masterton, is staying with her sister, Mrs J. A. Smith, Palmerston North. Miss L. Speedy, Wellington, is the guest of Mrs C. T. R. Richardson, The Terrace, Lansdowne.

Miss Armstrong, Wellington, and formerly of Masterton, is staying with Miss Williams, Victoria Street, Masterton.

Miss M. Reidy has retired from the position of matron of the Kawhia Hospital, after 29 years’ service. Mrs R. C. McMillan. Sydney, has been appointed to take her place.

A resident of Mount St. John Avenue, Epsom, Miss Elizabeth Tyler Smith, is looking forward with pleasure to the attainment of her 100th birthday next Thursday. Miss Smith was born in Worcestershire, England, on June 13, 1840, and came to New Zealand with her brother as a girl of 15 in 1855. They landed at Lyttelton, and she walked over the Port Hills to stay with a married sister at Papanui. Miss Smith has no difficulty in recalling dates and particulars of those distant days. After spending 12 years ?n Oamaru, she went to live in Patea, finally going in 1892 with her sister and her sister’s husband to Auckland, where she has made her home ever since. Very good general health is still enjoyed bv Miss Smith.
