FIGHT TO THE LAST

AMERICAN SENATOR’S SPECULATIONS

CANADA AS NEW CENTRE OF EMPIRE.

GUARANTEE FOR WESTERN HEMISPHERE.

By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received This Day. 12.35 p.m.) WASHINGTON. June 4.

Senator Pittman, commenting on Mr Winston Churchill’s statement about a fight to the last, said: “That is the most encouraging proposed action that has come to the attention of the United States since the invasion of Holland. If, in the event of an extremity, this action is carried out, the British Empire will be maintained. Their Majesties, members of Parliament, Army and Navy officers and others who might be marked out for execution by the Nazis can make Canada a powerful country and the centre of the Empire. This substantially guarantees the Western Hemisphere against successful attack for a long time.”
