TODAY’S BUSINESS TRIBUTES TO DECEASED MEMBERS. SECRET SESSION TOMORROW. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. At its meeting today, the House of Representatives will pay tributes to former legislators whose deaths occurred during the Parliamentary recess, and will then adjourn as a mark of respect. Tomorrow there will be a secret session of the House at which members will be given full information about New Zealand's war effort. Further details as to the procedure to be followed will be discussed today by the Prime Minister, the'Leader of the Opposition, and the Speaker, Mr Barnard. The general opinion is that Ministers will give to the House details to supplement its information already made public, and that the more informative data will be revealed in response to questions. The secret session will begin following formal business in the afternoon, and is likely to be protracted.
Former members of the House of Representatives and the Legislative Council who have died since Parliament adjourned late last year included the late Prime Minister, Mr Savage; the Hon J. Trevithick, M.L.C., Mr R. McCallum, a former member of both Houses; Mr J. S. Dickson; formerly M.P. for Parnell; Mr J. R. Hamilton, a former member of Parliament and a brother of the Leader of the Opposition; Mr T. Henare and Mr D. McLaren, both former members of the House. WAR COUNCIL NO FURTHER NEGOTIATIONS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. “No further negotiations have taken place since the House of Representatives adjourned on Friday,” said the Prime Minister, Mr Fraser, when referring in an interview last evening to the discussions between himself and the Leader of the Opposition, Mr Hamilton.
Following remarks made ■ in the House by the Prime Minister and by Mr Hamilton, it is generally expected that discussions in regard to the War Council proposal or any possible alternative will be resumed.
