Streamline Wins Well. The Groat Northern Hurdles at the Auckland meeting on Saturday was robbed of considerable interest when two of the favourites, Jewelled Girdle and Knight of Australia, fell at the first fence, where Pyrenees and Chikara also came to grief. Streamline was in front when the field had settled down and was never afterward headed. winning handsomely at double figures. Over the first round Streamline was followed by King Rey, Mio Lume, and All Irish, and he was six lengths clear commencing the second round. Going along the back Survalyon moved up and the field began to close on the leader. Passing the half-mile Streamline was just clear of Survalyon. Innes Lad, who was beginning to tire, All Irish and Enjoyment, and these were the only ones close enough to have chances. Streamline continued to gallop strongly, and, after leading over the last fence from All Irish and Survalyon, he went on to win by six lengths, from All Irish, who beat Survalyon by five lengths. Innes Lad was a moderate fourth, succeeded, by Enjoyment. Mio Lume and Baldric. Aussie Ra, General Ruse and Erination, wno came in bleeding from the nostrils, fell at the second to last fence where they were well beaten. Jewelled Girdle continued riderless in the race and finished just behind the winner.
