At the annual meeting of the Horowhenua Electric Power Board, Mr G. A. Monk was re-elected chairman.
Messrs Stewart (Hastings), and B. V. Donaldson (Wellington) are at the Hotel Midland (Masterton), today. Sir Donald Johnston McGavin has been reappointed a member of the Medical Council, according to a Gazette notice.
A pleasant time was spent at the residence of Mr C. Richards, Hope Street, Masterton, recently, when a number of friends assembled to bid farewell to Messrs Neilson, Newlands, Welsh, Kennedy and Holden, who subsequently left for Trentham Camp. Dr P. S. de Q. Cabot, a former student of Otago University, has accepted an invitation to lecture during July at the University of Manitoba, Winnipeg. He has also been appointed lecturer in psychology at Simmons College, Boston, and director of a 10year research programme known as the Cambridge-Somerville Youth Study.
At a meeting of the St. John Ambulance Brigade held on Wednesday evening, a presentation was made to Mr K. Turnbull in honour of his approaching marriage. On behalf of the members, Mr J. C. Cooper (superintendent of the Brigade) asked Mr Turnbull to accept a crystal bowl and wished him a happy and prosperous future. Mr Turnbull suitably replied.
