RED CROSS FUND
SCHOOL AND OTHER DONATIONS. MONEY STILL COMING IN. Although the appeal for funds for sick, wounded and distressed soldiers by the New Zealand Red Cross Society and the Order of St John is practically concluded, donations are still coming into the office of Page’s Buildings regularly. Among others recently received was an instalment from West School of £5 from Forms 1 and 2, while other schools are also raising funds and will make donations later. The committee also has heard that other organisations will be making donations in the near future.
The drive for £5 donations has had interesting and satisfactory results as only six more are needed to complete the original 50 aimed at. Numerous people have made their donations up to this amount to swell the fund. Masterton’s total, £2248 5s Bd, at midday today is very satisfactory and ranks well among those of the towns of similar population. OTHER DONATIONS. ’ACKNOWLEDGED BY MAYOR. The Mayor, Mi- T. Jordan, acknowledges receipt of the following donations to the Red Cross Fund:
£ s d Mr and Mrs W. J. Fly .... 5 5 0 Mrs Russell (Hessey St) ... 5 0 “Twa Scots” .... 2 0 0 .... 2 0 0 W. F. Rogers (Te Whiti) .... 5 0 0 Mrs S. Mawley .... 20 0 0
