FASCISTS IN BRITAIN
FOUR SENT TO GAOL. POLICE VISITING HOUSES By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright. (Received This Day. 11 a.m.) LONDON, May 24. Today’s London arrests comprised 24 men and four women, most of whom are understood to be connected with the British Union of Fascists. Detectives today are busily engaged in visiting houses in various parts of London. The Manchester police arrested two members of the Fascist Union.
Four of eight persons arrested at a Fascist meeting’ on May 1 were today ordered to be inprisoned for from one to three months. Arrests of Sir O. Mosley’s followers include three mentioned as possible British Union Parliamentary candidates in recent years, and also Edward Urdley Elam, husband of Mrs DacreFox, whose proper name is Mrs Norman Elam. I.R.A. SUSPECTS ARRESTS MADE IN BELFAST AND DUBLIN. (Received This Day, 11 a.m.) BELFAST, May 24. The police swooped down on I.R.A. suspects. It is officially stated that 76 arrested in Northern Ireland are being detained for the duration of the war. A Dublin message says a number of members of the I.R.A. have been arrested. The Government has issued a decree that possessors of firearms must comply with the directions given by Defence officers.
