POWER BOARD EMPLOYEES

GIFTS FROM STAFF. At a gathering of the Wairarapa Electric Power Board staff in Masterton, held to bid farewell to Mr B. T. Thomason, prior to his entering camp at Trantham, Mr H. B. Keenan, chief engineer, said that Mr Thompson had been a valued member of the installation department staff and was very popular with the other members. On behalf of the staff he conveyed to Mr Thompson the best wishes of those present for his future welfare, and for a safe and speedy return to civil life again. As a token of their esteem, Mr Keenan presented Mr Thompson with an inscribed wristlet watch. Mr Thompson suitably. replied. Opportunity was also taken to convey to another member of the staff, Mr W.' Barnett, his fellow employees’ good wishes in connection with his approaching marriage. Mr Keenan spoke in eulogistic terms of Mr Barnett as an employee, and in jocular vein reminded Mr Barnett of the heavy responsibility he was now undertaking. On behalf of the staff Mr Keenan asked Mr Barnett to accept as a token of their good vzishes a parcel containing an electric jug, iron and toaster. Mr Barnett, in reply, thanked those present for the kind wishes expressed and for the useful presents. The proceedings terminated with the singing of "For They Are Jolly Good Fellows" and the partaking of light refreshments.
