Three parties combed heavy bush on the Kaimai Ranges all day in a vain search for four men. who have been missing since they left Matamata on a pig-shooting expedition on Sunday morning. The only trace found of the missing men was some apple peelings deep in the bush. Men are still searching and. will spend tonight in the bush. The search is at present under the leadership of Mr. Joseph Smith, an experienced bushman, with a number of Maori guides. Another search party will leave for the ranges tomorrow, under the leadership of Mr. W. Douglas, and the other three parties will be given some relief." It is hoped that, weather conditions will permit the use of an aeroplane from Rotorua aerodrome in the search. At present there is still mist rfbout, and in the bush conditions are wet and cold, with the ground very heavy. Maoris were the only searchers who were able to light a fire.
