STEAMER CAPSIZED

IN WANGANUI RIVER RAPID. FEARS THAT THREE MEN WERE DROWNED. (By Telegraph—Press Association., WANGANUI. May 7. It is feared that three men were drowned four miles above Pipiriki late yesterday afternoon when the .river steamer Ohura overturned in a rapid when carrying a cargo of cattle. The men were: — Mr. R. Gray, engineer, married. Mr. G. Ropata, deckhand, married, with eight children. Mr. Te 1-lori, deckhand, married, returned soldier. Little was known of the disaster till, a steamer went up the river from Pipiriki and found the Ohura upside I down and several dead cattle floating down the river. Captain A. Anderso_u 'and his nephew, another deckhand, managed to escape from the Ohura.
