RACING CLUB MEETING OF STEWARDS. (“Times-Age” Special.) At the monthly meeting of the stewards of the Wairarapa Racing Club there were present: Messrs J. W. Cara (president), A. C. Pearce, D. C. Collins, D. H. S. Riddiford, E. D. Martin, R. A. Donald, J. F. Thompson, W. Howard Booth, R. N. Barton, T. Benlon. H. Lawson. C. J. Nix, J. G. Donald, and N. C. C. Shepherd (secretary). An apology for absence was received from Mr Roy Donald. The receipts since last meeting totalled £BO. Accounts passed for payment, £179. An application for renewal of a trainer’s licence received from Mr H. P. Reed was recommended. The New Zealand Racing Conference annual meeting will be held in Wellington on July 12, and it was resolved to send a remit in connection with complimentary tickets. ' It was resolved to grant a bonus oi £lO 10s, to be accompanied by a letter of appreciation, to Mrs Gardiner. Mrs Gardiner has been connected with the catering department Tor the past 38 years. WOMEN’S INSTITUTE ADDRESS BY MISS JOHNSTON. A special meeting of Kahutara and Pirinoa Institute was held yesterday in the Kahutara Hall, when Mrs. McKenna presided over a good attendance. Miss H. Johnston, of Massey College, Palmerston North, explained the aims and objects of the Sarah Anne Rhodes Fellowship in Home Science. Miss Johnston also gave a travel talk on her tour when she gained the Carnegie Schlarship. Miss Johnston said that she hoped that groups would be formed among the institutes. The.Kahutara-Pirinoa Institute hopes at a later date to join up with the dressmaking group. Mrs. Pope, on behalf of the members, presented Miss Johnston with a shoulder spray. On the motion of Mrs. Lovegrove (Pirinoa) a hearty vote of thanks was passed to the speaker.

The tea hostesses were Mesdames Duffy, Rogers and Fenwick.

Personal Items. Mrs. Hall, Alfredton, is visiting Pahautea. a Mrs. L. McKenna left today on a visit to Feilding.
