LADIES’ GUILD MEETING.

PATRIOTIC ACTIVITIES.

The annual meeting of the St. Matthew's Ladies’ Guild was held in the Parish Hall yesterday afternoon. Archdeacon E. J. Rich presiding over a good attendance of members. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames Coleman, Jones, Jaine. Andrew, Denbee and Sutherland.

The report and balance sheet were read and adopted. In the annual report special thanks were given to all friends who had contributed items at the social afternoon, to the card committee, to Archdeacon Rich, Mr Ninnes, the Vestry, the Press and Mr Knapp for the help so willingly given throughout the year. The election of officers resulted as follows:-• President. Mrs E. J. Rich; vice-presidents. Mesdames S. Mawley L. B. Maunsell, Birch. R. Hatch. K J. Coleman and Andrew; secretary, Mrs J. M. Aikman; afternoon tea secretary. Mrs R. Hatch; buying committee, Mesdames Hatch, Heath, Hope and Henderson; social committee, Mesdames Burke, Coleman, Judd and McMinn.

It was agreed that only one effort be made during the year, namely, annual sale of work.

The card parties are to commence on Thursday, May 9. A social afternoon is to be held on June 6. at 2.45 p.m. It was arranged to meet each Thursday at 2 p.m. instead of 2.30 p.m. The first, hour is to be spent in knitting for the Forces and wool will be provided for those desiring to knit. All the ladies for the parish are to be invited to join up with the Guild’s knitting circle.

The meeting closed with the servinr of afternoon tea by Mesdames Rich and Aikman.
