Fenwick; selectors. Messrs. R. Fenwick, M. Hodder and L. G. Rasmussen; auditor, Mr. J. Blain. It was decided to open the season on Tuesday. April 23. The price of ammunition was fixed at 9d per block of eleven: and subscriptions as follow: New members (men), 8s; old members (men), 5/6; all ladies and juniors, 3s. It was decided to conduct the fortnightly cups as a separate competition, the first shoot each night to count with no make-ups allowed. The conditions of the championship were altered to the first eight shoots out of 12 instead of the best 8. Subject to the consent of the donors, all cups and trophies will be competed for under similar conditions. No makeups will be allowed except by permission of the committee. Considering the extra cost of the ammunition and other expenses, the club was very fortunate to complete the season with a small profit.

The meeting closed with a vote of thanks to the chair. Ways and means of conducting the inter-club shooting, owing to shortage ) of ammunition and petrol restrictions, ■ are occupying the minds of local shots. Some of the suggestions put forward are: (1) That one round of post shoot- ■ ing be fired and all teams meet on the Greytown range to shoot off the second round on a Saturday; (2) that the B teams be deleted and one qualifying round be fired at Greytown; the three highest teams to meet each other for the A grade shield and the three lowest, shoot for the B grade shield, the association cup scores to be taken from the three shoots thus fired by each team. It has been suggested that the association may be able to procure a licence for sufficient petrol to allow the usual inter-club programme to be carried out.

SCHOOL ASSOCIATION EUCHRE PARTY AND DANCE. The Home and School Association opened their euchre and dancing season on Thursday night, when despite the boisterous weather there was a good attendance. The euchre prizes were won as follow: Ladies, Mrs A. Gain and Mrs. Cross, equal, 1: men.j Mr. Elbe and Mr. Perry, equal, 1. The Monte Carlos were won by Miss P. Gain and Mr. V. Woods, and Miss K. Gain and Mr. V. Bull. Mr. H. G. Bain was M.C. and Mr. V. Boyd supplied the, music, extras being played by Miss Grace Frazer. School Committee. The biennial meeting of householders for the purpose of electing the School Committee will be held on April 22. At the last meeting two years ago there was such a poor attendance that the committee had no option but to allow themselves to be re-elected or have the school and hall taken over by a commission. Now having completed a fouryear term, the committeemen feel that they have done their share and they are definitely retiring this year. Householders interested in the welfare of the children and those who wish to keep the hall open for entertainments should attend this meeting and offer their services for the next two years. Personal Items. The Featherston group herd-tester. Mr Jack Cunliffe, has left to take up duty with the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve. He has been replaced temporarily by Mr. N. F. Atkins who has baa a number of years' experience in the Wanganui. Hawke's Bay and Manawatu districts. Mr. Atkins speaks very highly of the sheds and general facilities enjoyed by farmers and sharemilkers here as compared with some other districts. He also considers the housing of sharemilkers and other farm employees much above the average. The residents of South Featherston recently farewelled Mrs. Rasmussen, senr.. who has left to take up residence in Palmerston North. Euchre playing and dancing was enjoyed and the I prizes were won by Mrs. F. Burt and Mrs. Baker. Mr. B. Burt and Mr. Ashworth. Mr. H. G. Bain presented Mrs. Rasmussen with a handbag on behalf of thise present and wished her health and happiness in her new home. Mr. L. Rasmussen replied on behalf of his mother, and an enjoyable gathering concluded with the singing of Auld Lang Syne. Mr. E. C. Rasmussen who will enter camp with the third echelon is at present on holiday in Palmerston North. I Mi'. N. Morgan is visiting his parents at Patea prior to going into camp. Messrs. A. Y. Burt and I. J. Burt are spending a few days in Wellington. Hockey Club Dance. The weekly dance of the Featherston Hockey Club was well attended. Sev- . oral soldiers who were in camp at the' Tauherenikau racecourse were present and remarked after the dance that they! had never met a more sociable crowd. 1 The club has spent a considerable por-

lion of its profit on farewell gifts for those who have joined the forces and their efforts are deserving of strong patronage from local dance enthusiasts’. Mr. C. Buck was M.C.. and Mr. V. Boyd supplied the music.
