LEAGUE OF MOTHERS MONTHLY MEETING OF MEMBERS. (“Times-Age” Special.) At the monthly meeting of the League of Mothers held in the Parish Hall, the president, Mrs. Archie Clark., presided. Other members present were, Mesdames Houston, Fellingham, Tidswell/Burt. S. Burt, Luke Smith. Bladen. Blain, Willett, Jury. Hardie. McKenzie, Cundy, Holland, Ruane, Willis, Brown, Wyeth, T. Skipage. C. Skipage. McKenna..Kilsby. Hawke and Hayes. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames Slocombe and C. Buck. Mrs. Kilsby accepted the office of honorary secretary in place of Mrs. C. Buck, the retiring hon. secretary. Mrs. Arch Clark give the thought for the month: "We travel this road but once; therefore any good that we can do. let us do it, any kindness we can show, let us show it; for we shall not pass this way again.” A musical programme arranged by the hostesses, Mesdames Willett, Jury and Hardie was much enjoyed by the members. The first item was community singing; songs were rendered by Mrs. Willett and recitations by Miss Betty Smith. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses. The singing of the National Anthem brought the meeting to a close. ST. JOHN’S PARISH ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of parishioners of St. John’s parish was held on Wednesday evening, when there was not the usual attendance owing to the rough weather. The Rev. J. T. Holland was in the chair. Various reports were read and adopted. The election of officers resulted as follows: —Vicar's warden, Mr. D. H. S. Riddiford; people's Warden, Mr. A. S. Kilsby; vestry. Messrs. R. W. Matthews. J. Matthews, A. C. Pearce. J. W. Holland. C. C. Kenward. K. H. Allen, R. R. P. Hardy, W. Willis. Mesdames J. T. Holland and H. R. Bloxam; auditor, Mr. C. W. Ritchie: secretary. Mr. C. C. Kenward.
The vicar made a presentation to Miss Mutter in appreciation of the many services she had rendered the church.
After supper the parishioners extended a welcome to ’ the Ven. Archdeacon E. J. Rich. Mr. Rich thanked them for their welcome and congratulations. He gave a very interesting address on “Today’s Challenge to the Church.” Personal. Mr. J. H. Hatton, who died in the Greytown Hospital, was badly gassed in the Great War, where he saw service with the Rifle Brigade. He leaves a wife and three daughters, Misses Nancy and Phyllis, Featherston, and Joyce. Wellington. The funeral took place this afternoon.
