BUSINESS AT YESTERDAY’S SITTING. ' t (“Times-Age” Special.) I A sitting of the Greytown Magistrate’s Court was held yesterday be- s fore Mr H. P. Lawry, S.M. I Yec Weny Hee‘was fined 5s and costs 12s for having no warrant of fitness r for his motor truck. c Noel Liardet was fined £2 and costs c 10s for speeding through Greytown. r John Stanley Wright and James t Sidney Morgan were each fined £2 1 and costs 10s for driving motor cycles I in a dangerous manner in the main i street of Greytown. - Tu Morehu Tamahana was fined 10s and costs 15s for not having a pro- i per driver's licence for his motor c lorry. His employer. Joseph E. Rai- s son, was fined a similar amount for e aiding and assisting in this offence. < Samuel Sturgess was fined 10s and i costs 12s for riding a bicycle at night i without a light. Sheep Worrying. < A bad case of sheep worrying on the farm of Mr A. L. Burgess, at Mata- | rawa, occurred last night. Six ewe lambs were killed and thirty-four more or less injured. Mr C. Smith, manager of the farm, shot one dog in the act and the other dog has since been destroyed. It is understood the owners of the dogs have been located. The losses occurred among part of a flock which was to be used for breed-
ing. R.S.A. GREYTOWN BRANCH ANNUAL MEETING. There was a large attendance of “Diggers” at the annual meeting of the Greytown branch of the R.S.A.. which was held in the Fire Brigade Hall on Wednesday evening. Mr J. W. Barnard occupied the chair. Members stood in silence in respect to the memory of Messrs F. A. Ridgley and H. Hawke, ex-Servicemen. The Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union wrote offering to entertain members of the R.S.A. and their wives and children after the Anzae Day parade. The offer was gratefully accepted. The Dominion Headquarters advised that the Hon W. Perry would talk over the air about Anzae Day on Tuesday. April 22. This address is for the school children. The Masterton R.S.A. wrote stating that a billiard tournament was being arranged. The semi-finals and finals would be played in Masterton. The election of officers resulted:— Chairman, Mr J. W. Herod; secretary, Mr G. Robinson; treasurer, Mr S. Shedden; committee, Miss Higginson. Messrs W. Hutchings, R. Dyson, R. 1 O'Neale, H. G. Carter and A. Nisbet. On leaving the president’s chair Mr ' Barnard thanked the members for their ' co-operation during the past year. He asked the members to give the new • chairman their loyal support. Mr Bar- ’’ nard also paid a high tribute to the work of Mr H. G. Carter for the local R.S.A. On behalf of the "Diggers” he asked Mr Carter to accept a gold , propelling pencil with the grateful , thanks of his comrades for the way ' in which he had held the association j together during the past twenty years. Mr Carter said his effort had been j a duty which had given him the utmost pleasure to perform. On taking the chair, Mr J. W. Herod thanked the members for the honour they had conferred on him. He s congratulated Mr Barnard on his s joining the Expeditionary Force and - wished him God speed and good luck, v It was decided that the committee a consider the holding iff a Diggers' ! Market.
